For the complete story on this event , please go to the full article.

IPA vice-President, Juan Antonio Martinez las Heras, with the prize winners.

Torrepacheco (Murcia) – the first public P&P course in Spain – was a privileged witness of how 70 boys and girls from all over the country have learned to enjoy this game without loosing the seriousness and continuous concentration that his practice requires – specially at high level standings… their innocent naturalness brought an easy smile to our faces… so cute!
… Yet, they were not the only ones. Two weeks later, our Senior National Championship was received by ladies and gentlemen over 50-55 years with great expectations. A combination of spa circuits and river tours by beautiful Cofrentes, a selective environment surrounded by mountains outside the health resort and a tiptop garden, rather than a course, made more than 50 players aware of the door that Pitch & Putt opens to play the game of golf in a different way: more relaxed, not so physical demanding, with plenty time to spare, yet with the competitive spirit we all look for.
…So they played and they enjoyed doing it. Both kids and big kids have learned the simplest of the lessons: in sport, in LIFE you have to be tough and work hard whichever you want to achieve… doing it smiling makes the big difference.
… Keep smiling!

It should come as no surprise that Italy is amongst the founding members of the new international body for Pitch and Putt, IPPA.

For over a decade, the Italians have been there promoting new organisations and new initiatives as well as creating the first edition of most of the major international events.

From being the driving force of the creation of EPPA, to hosting the first World Cup, 1st Seniors Championship, and the 1st European Ladies Open, Italy’s F.I.P.&P. has always been there to promote change and development in the sport of Pitch and Putt.

A brief summary of F.I.P.&P.’s track record, under the presidency of Carlo Farioli…

1998: promoter of the first meeting in Cetraro, Calabria – ITALY in order to promote Pitch and Putt and to plan the future EPPA. (Present: ITALY-ENGLAND-IRELAND)
1999: F.I.P.&P. present in Ireland for the signature of the protocol for the setting up of EPPA.
From the very outset, ITALY, together with FRANCE and SAN MARINO, has always been the country that has promoted the creation of a WORLD Federation.

F.I.P&P has organized:
2000: MILAN – 1° European Ladies Open where there was also the first “Ryder Cup” type contest between 6 Irish ladies players and 6 ladies players representing EPPA
2002: ROME – 1° Italian Open and FIRST Open in Europe under the patronage of EPPA
2002: MONTECARLO – P&P GIN Cup – A tournament among 9 P&P Champions on the square in front of the Casino of Monte Carlo
2003: LUGANO (CH) – 2° Pitch and Putt GIN Cup
2004: CHIA, Sardinia : 1° EUROPEAN Senior EPPA Championship
2004: CHIA, Sardinia : 1° WORLD Team Championship
2005: SOLBIATE OLONA (Varese): 1° WORLD Senior Championship
2007: CHIA, Sardinia : 5° European Team Championship (together with SAN MARINO)
2002 – 2008: seven Italian Opens (Rome, Florence, Como)

Since 2000, F.I.P.&P. has an official agreement, (renewed with the full approval of the two Boards in 2009), with the Italian Golf Federation. F.I.G. recognizes, de facto, Pitch and Putt as an independent sport and F.I.P.&P. And F.I.G. have worked together throughout Italy for the promotion of both disciplines:
The Italian Golf Federation recognizes the specific character of “pitch & putt”, and thus the legal autonomy of the Italian Pitch & Putt Federation.
F.I.P& P has contacts with the Italian Para-Olympic Committee.
F.I.P&P has had P&P included in the “Sport Disciplines” recognized by Panathlon International (Member of the GAISF and Honorary Member of the IOC).
F.I.P&P has presented a request for recognition to the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) as an “Independent and Associated Sport Discipline” to CONI.
F.I.P&P has always promoted P&P successfully throughout its national territory.
F.I.P&P has always been present in European and World Championships, and in major Opens.
