The venue for the Open Championship England 2010 is Snodhurst Bottom, a delightful 18 hole pitch and putt course located in the heart of Kent.

This well-maintained course, owned by Medway Council, is designed in the traditional pitch and putt style, and comprises a wide variety of challenging holes, none of which exceed 70 metres in length. The terrain is hilly, making distances difficult to judge and directional accuracy off the tee vital.

The relatively small greens are mostly undulating and can be hard to read. Despite its overall length of only 982m, the course certainly provides a stern test for even the best of players.

Snodhurst Bottom is unusual in that it has no bunkers, although other ‘hazards’ proliferate in the form of severe sloping away from the greens, and plenty of trees, bushes and areas of long grass.

The surrounding area is both historic and beautiful. The course is situated on the outskirts of Chatham, site of the historic Royal Dockyard; and is only a few kilometres from Rochester, a city with a Victorian atmosphere which houses the second oldest cathedral in England and a famous Norman castle. Just outside the town are the rolling hills of the North Downs of Kent, an area of attractive countryside known as ‘The Garden of England’. The county contains many prestigious golf courses. Chatham is easily accessible by motorway from all major London airports, and there are rail connections to London located only 2.5 km from the course.

The club is managed by Dave Gabriel and Joe Hammell, who organise a number of competitions throughout the year for local players. The dress code and style of the club is informal, and club regulars are friendly and welcoming.

For most of the year, the club provides fairly basic facilities, but for the Open Championship changing rooms are being made available, and a bar serving food and drink will be opened for the players, their guests and other visitors. For anyone planning to play here, I hope you enjoy what the course has to offer and can return home saying you have mastered it.

Situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Riom, fifteen kilometres north of the regional capital, Clermont-Ferrand, and close to the volcanic Auvergne mountain range, the Riom Pitch and Putt Course is part of a golfing complex comprising a driving range and a compact Par 3 golf course. The driving range has also a lighting system allowing for night time practice. Riom is the birthplace of Pitch and Putt in France as AFPP was founded here in 1999.
The course was established in 1992 and was extended from nine to eighteen holes in 2008. There are at present seven hundred members of the club and about 10% of these play Pitch and Putt competitively. Golf and Pitch and Putt competitions are held all year round as the climate is temperate. Access to the club could not be easier as it is located a few hundred metres from the Paris – Montpellier motorway.
The golf course is just over 2 000 metres in length with relatively small greens and the Pitch and Putt configuration, which has permanent teeing areas and which can be played at all times, is 1 200 metres long. The front nine, which includes a few uphill and downhill holes, has only one water hazard but water comes into play on all but two holes on the flat back nine. Almost all holes have at least one well-placed sand bunker. When the wind is blowing, which is about 300 days a year, it’s best to make sure you have a good supply of balls.

Men, women and children are equal members of the Club and all competitions are mixed events. The Golf School is attended by almost 100 children and some of the finest players in the region started playing here. Christian Rouvident, the club manager, and Paul Bonnichon, the club pro, provide tuition of the highest quality; under their expert guidance, the club can look forward to a promising future. Riom is a living example of the possibility for golf and Pitch and Putt to co-exist for the pleasure of all its members. Riom won the 2009 edition of LIPP, the French national interclub monthly Pitch and Putt medal event.

The club president, Jean-Louis Oleksiak, a prominent member of the AFPP international squad, holds the course record with a 51 which is an indication of the difficulty of the course. Now that it has 18 holes, Riom hopes to host major national and international events in 2010, so this record may not last for long.

Virginia Country Golf Club

The Golf Virginia, with its exciting course of 9-hole Pitch & Putt with double tees, is situated on an harmonious hill and is characterized by 4 small lakes that feed into some greens, making the game both technically challenging and fun.

The Golf Virginia is 15 miles from the city of Como, made famous by its lake, one of the most important and interesting places in the North of Italy, full of treasures of art, history and traditions, and it is for centuries an inexhaustible source of inspiration for poets and painters. Along the shores of the lake, characterized by green hills that slope gently into the water, man has built splendid examples of architecture.
Excellent place to visit to complete the marriage between golf and tourism.

in March 2008, the Men´s Spanish Individual Championship. In June 2009 it will play host to the Men´s Spanish Interterritoral Championships. Green Tiber course

The newest Pitch and Putt course in Italy steps up onto the international stage in June when it hosts the San Marino Open on the weekend of the 27th and 28th of June.
The Green Tiber course is situated in a wild, windy and flat area along Rome’s famous River Tiber.
Tricky out of bounds and water obstacles add to its character.
For the players there are also driving range facilities, chipping and putt areas, as well as a restaurant, changing rooms and pro shop. The course is conveniently located close to the airport and the downtown area.

If there was one course on the international Pitch and Putt circuit which you could call the Championship course, it would be the Les Goelands course in Le Grande Motte, France.

Host to the French Open for five years, as well as a world championship, the course attracts elite players from around the globe for its annual competitions.
